Problem: How will police officers communicate with driverless trucks for inspections?

Autonomous vehicles are the way of the future. In order to get driverless trucks on roads at scale, they need to operate in today’s world of road regulation centered around police officers and truck inspections—checking vehicles and drivers. Current truck inspections require driver involvement to provide paperwork and operate trucks, but in a world with level 5, fully-autonomous trucks without a driver in the vehicle, there is no human driver to interact with a police officer.

Solution: A mobile application to enable police officers to access information and run inspections on a driverless truck.

We created Autonomous Vehicle Interaction Device (AViD) which allows police officers to connect to a Daimler driverless truck and access documentation, run simulations on the vehicle for inspections, and product reports for citations and regulatory filings.
